The urge to paint came from somewhere deep down, from a place where there are neither words nor decisions. The urge suddenly rose. There were no plan and skills, only passion and courage. I was not afraid of the white canvas, I simply created on it. The content and narrative of the painting always appeared to me after the picture was already painted. Doing the action preceded the process of decoding and understanding.
Humankind has learned (as is consistently shown through art) that next to the divine, lies contamination, that in the abode of love resides hatred, and that under a shared roof the sublime and the mundane coexist.
In my work I lay down an almost endless number of transparent layers. Each “gradation of color” reveals a dimension of a colorful narrative, documenting a temporary mood. Sometimes window parts, frames or blinds are added. Other times plants, thorns and weeds pop up. I challenge the orderly doctrine of architectural particles by forming a chaotic structure, while shifting the expected point of view. Where does the viewer stand and what is my position? Inward, outward, light or dark.
